Ted Goulet

This is my second year with the team. My son joined BERT as a freshman in 2009 and I hung around and helped out where ever I could. The opportunity came up at the end of the 2009-2010 season for some new folks to run the team. Although I hadn't even entertained the thought of taking it over, I was strongly convinced to do this by the former leadership. So now I am an advisor along with Scott Tracy. It is very rewarding helping out the students. It's great to see them come up with ideas when given a task and I'm looking forward to see what we come up with for the 2010-2011 competiton.

Lots of things have been happening!

It has been a very busy week. Just a few of the things that have been done.

T-shirts have been ordered, again this year we are having the member's name put on the sleeve of the t-shirts.

Bumpers have been completed and our team number (133) has been painted on the fabric.

The base of the robot has been completed and we have started on building the shooting mechanism.

Some of our team members have been picking and attaching the eagle logo and name to our safety giveaways.

Brian, Josh P and Josh G are still waiting for the 2012 animiation criteria to be released.

Last night, slippery roads

The Advisors had to send a e-mail to all members about the roads last night. Since the roads were slippery due to freezing rain, it was up to the members if they wanted to come to TEM's. There were several members who still showed up and more work was done on the robot. Of course Ted, Scott and John (advisors/mentors)were there.

Presenting to the school board and other news

The team met at TEM Inc. on Wedndesday to accomplish two things;
1) Discuss and plan out what we're presenting to the school board.
2) Have the team vote for next season's team captains.

Robot Repaired

Well, the robot is repaired. It doesn't contain the mini-bot deployment anymore since it was severely damaged during competition. The gripper is now working better. It's ready to show off to the school board.

BERT won the 2011 Quality Award sponsored by Motorola at the Granite State Regional Competition!

Congratulations to everyone on the team for winning the Quality Award sponsored by Motorola. This award celebrates machine robustness in concept and fabrication. At the FIRST Granite State Regional it was announced that "This team and machine displayed a high degree of excellence and set a high standard for themselves and stood out as an example to other teams. We are proud to recognize this winning team and machine as a quality standard for FIRST. This robot is built for the battlefield. It has an arm strong enough to double as a floor jack for Dean's Hummer.

Here we are in Manchester!

We're here!! We left bonny Eagle HS this afternoon around 3:15 and arrived here in Manchester a couple hours later. After checking into the lovely Hampton Inn, a few team members went over to the Verizon Wireless Arena to unload our robot, as well as the robots for FIRST Teams 58, 172 and 3074 (A big thank you goes out to Team 172 for transporting all those robots!).

We had dinner this evening at Pappy's Pizza and were joined by our old friends Ron and Connie Darling. They're here with the new team from Sanford HS, FIRST Team 3451, but we let them join us anyway!

Final team meeting before Competition

Today is Sunday, and almost the entire team is here. We're packing, running through checklists, going over the schedule for the coming Competiton, eating pizza, and much more:

The Safety Committee is wrapping things up, mentor Ted Goulet is putting his sign business supplies and expertise to good use, the team is discussing who will be on the Drive Team at competition.
