In the Homestretch

Tonight we discussed some spirit ideas (hats, mostly) and then broke off into groups. We also talked about visiting South Portland High this weekend to practice in their arena.
After we dispursed into groups. Ronnie and Mike "finished up" the lifting arm, and it was attached and (much later) tested. Finally. :-)
As it turns out, we only had one motor hooked up, so it wasn't working at first. But later we found the problem and plugged in the second motor. It was really something to see that robot completely lift off the ground.
Animation for some reason had some problems with submission so whether or not we're going to be disqualified has yet to be announced, but we're keeping our fingers crossed.
Niko, Ben Jewett, and John cut the driver control board and afterword Niko attempted to arrange the controls on it. He soon found something else to do, however, so I took over and, if I do say so myself, did a pretty decent job organizing. John and Josiah agree. Hahahahaha. We weren't able to attach anything to the board, though, because of our lack of velcro. So that'll have to wait until tomorrow.
Overall, we're doing a really good job this year. Except for the arm and the lexan covering, we're pretty much done with the robot. I mentioned naming it, but I don't think anyone took the idea seriously. I think "Brontosaurus" is a fititng name. See the pictures of the arm extended and you'll know why.
As for competition itself, people seem "pretty pumped." As Issac said, "we got fadoras for this, so it'll be awesome."
Can't believe it's still 13 days away!
