BONNY EAGLE ROBOTICS!
Since its start in 1996, BERT has been devoted to FIRST and giving students all the opportunities the FIRST program has to offer.
Today, the Bonny Eagle Robotics Team is a collection of a variety of students from Bonny Eagle High School. As a district school consisting of five towns, we have a fairly large group of people interested in a variety of subjects pertaining to the FIRST program. While largely focused on engineering and machining, students interested in animation, programming, graphic design, schematics, and electrical works are attracted to this program and all are a vital part of our team.
This years game is called Aerial Assist. In this game it is essential to help your alliance members in moving a ball that is two feet in diameter down a field made up of three zones; blue, white, and red. These zones are arranged like the french flag. This game about the assist points that can be earned by moving the ball up the field while passing to other bots, or throwing and catching the ball over a truss in the middle of the field. These bonus points will be redeemed when the robot scores by putting the ball in one of four goals.
Two of these goals are found in the upper most part of the end walls and are worth a base of 10 points whereas The bottom goals are worth 1 point. They stick out of the walls as a cube-like structure in the bottom corners of the scoring wall.
Along the sides of the court are the human players who put the ball in play and serve as the walls of the court. They cannot place the ball directly onto the robot but can drop or throw it onto the robot. Each team has one of these players who are restricted to a zone along the side of the court.
